Independence Live is a grassroots collective. 

We have done 1000s of livestreams since it was founded by Derek McLean and Kevin Gibney around November 2013 during the Scottish independence referendum campaign. Our initial goals were to provide a news media platform through livestreaming for the independence movement so by-passing the mainstream media and to show and teach others how to livestream. Like any news organisation, Independence Live now covers a wide variety of news topics.

In the past we have video documented via livestreams the Scottish independence referendum as historical primary source material for future historians. Since Covid we have concentrated much of our energy on doing online livestreams by creating our own productions and re-streaming livestreams by others. As always, we have been showing and helping others how to do online livestreams and have created help videos on our YouTube channel.

Whats On Guide

In 2020 we set up the Whats On Guide for the indy community where you can find the "Livestream Schedule'' for Independence Live livestreams as well as from others streaming in the Indy community. In addition you can also find the "Indy Live Radio Schedule'' and listen to the radio while you browse the site.
